Pets are never restrained, never forced and are always free to step on or off the table at their own pace. Sessions stop immediately if a pet shows any signs of discomfort or uncertainty.
The camera is mounted safely beneath the table and operated via wireless remote, ensuring there is no person directly underneath your pet at any time.

Is the Under Paw Studio Suitable for My Pet?
The Under Paw pet photography experience is suitable for a wide range of pets, including dogs and cats of all ages, from puppies and kittens to fully grown adults. Small, medium and larger breeds can be photographed, subject to weight limits, and the session works well for pets with confident, curious or calm personalities. Sessions are typically focused on one pet at a time, although two smaller pets from the same household may be photographed together where appropriate.
Each animal is assessed individually on the day, and every Under Paw studio pet photography session is adapted entirely around your pet’s comfort, confidence and needs to ensure a positive, relaxed experience and the best possible results.
What to Expect on the Day
Acclimatisation & Conditioning
Each session begins with a 15-minute acclimatisation period, allowing your pet to explore the studio and become comfortable with the table and environment. This time is essential to keeping the experience calm and positive.
The Photography Session
- Total session time: 10 - 20 minutes.
- Pets are gently encouraged with no pressure.
- Sessions are relaxed, unhurried and fully welfare led.
If a pet is hesitant, we proceed slowly with care and patience, and if they decide it’s not for them, we stop.

Lighting, Style & Final Images
Under Paw pet photography images are created using professional studio flash lighting to achieve crisp detail, clean backgrounds and beautifully balanced tones that highlight your pet’s form and expression.
Sessions are typically photographed against a black background, producing striking full-body images that showcase your pet’s shape, personality and movement from this unique perspective. Every successful image is carefully selected and edited to the same high professional standard as all of our studio pet photography work.
There is no guaranteed number of final images, as each session depends on how your pet responds on the glass table. All selected photographs are fully retouched and supplied as print-ready files.
Preparing for Your Under Paw Session
To help achieve the best possible results from your Under Paw pet photography session, we recommend arriving with clean paws and claws, and having nails trimmed where possible. Grooming beforehand is encouraged but not essential. As treats are used throughout the session as positive reinforcement, we advise avoiding feeding your pet immediately beforehand.
You are very welcome to bring your pet’s favourite treats or toys to help them feel comfortable and engaged. There is nothing specific you need to avoid bringing; simply arrive relaxed and allow your pet to settle and work at their own pace.
